Nowadays, some parents put a lot of pressure on their children to succeed. What is the reason parents do that? Is this a positive or negative development for children?
In this day and age, parents may place huge amounts of pressure on their kids to be successful in academics, athletics and extracurricular activities. A variety of reasons will be discussed to explain this phenomenon and the pros and cons of such a strategy will be weighed.
Countless parents hold the opinion that society is increasingly competitive and in order to achieve high marks in school or satisfactory results in life, they ought to push their children to work and study diligently. Moreover, numerous parents faced desperation and poverty when they were younger, which leads them to seek better lives for their offspring. They might also regret their study days when they slacked off or did not achieve their full potential and do not want this behaviour to rub off on their children. Parents also generally want what is best for their children and by placing stress on them to succeed, their kids could produce fantastic results.
Placing pressure on kids to do better inside and outside of the classroom might influence youngsters to avoid their lazy and unproductive lifestyles. However, forcing children to do things they may not want to do could lead to resentment and a wish to escape the activity. Youngsters might suffer from psychological issues due to their parents yelling or screaming at them and even holding unrealistic expectations for them. Additionally, children might not be able to handle such a large amount of pressure and could suffer from a nervous breakdown or simply rebel against their parents.
Overall, parents tend to want their children to be prosperous in various facets of their lives and wish their children can improve. Although these tactics could lead to better consequences, children might suffer from mental stress and issues later on in their lives.. (295 words)
