It is well known that many valuable qualities should be instilled in children as early as possible in order to cultivate young children to be a valuable member of community. Among these values, such as being helpful, being honest and being well-organized—I believe that honesty is the most important quality for young people.
First of all, being honest is the foundation of any relationship in the society. By that I mean under any circumstances, like family or workplaces, honesty can give others trust and confidence, thus improving relationship with others people. Children at the young age should learn this golden virtue. For example, when a five-year-old boy tells lies, most of adults will teach their children the importance of truth. However, when an adult is found to lie to others, this will be a nightmare and ruin his fame or reputation, especially in workplaces, colleagues will stay away from or show intense aversion to those liars.
In addition, honesty can help to cultivate a strong sense of responsibility. By this I mean it is quite common that in many parts of the world, most of children may tell lies to escape from punishment if they read misbehave under certain circumstances. Such habitual liars may even get worse, they are reluctant to shoulder their responsibility or even dodge their responsibility.Children, at the younger age, should be taught to face their own mistakes and learn to be responsible, which could be of vital importance in helping them cultivate the right attitudes and outlook towards the world.
However, it has to be admitted that being helpful and well organized are both excellent qualities for younger generations. When helping others, young people not only find enjoyment and satisfaction, but also can have better understanding of the society. But a fact must be pointed that 5 to 10-year-old children are too young to be able to take care of themselves, not to speak of giving a hand to other people. In terms of the organizational skills, it should be realized that most children at this age can hardly take care of themselves on their own, so it is extremely challenging for young people to learn to be well organized.
In conclusion, as for the most favorable qualities that children should develop, I believe honesty is the most important virtue for young people. Parents and schools should teach children importance of being honesty and encourage them to be honest to handle problems in their life.
